About Us

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

Most of us memorized this passage from the Declaration of Independence when we were school children. Daily, we benefit from liberty's provisions; yet today, we are faced with a threat to this most basic and essential value. The Campaign to Restore Liberty believes that to maintain the liberty and freedom bestowed upon this great nation for future generations, action is required. The time for action is now.

We are not seeking power or office
We are about principles, not personalities. We will not become a platform for personal political advancement. We are not an organization that caters to power consolidators, resume builders, political aspirants, or photo-op seekers. We place the national interest ahead of special interests.

There is a finite timeline The 2010 Congressional election in 55 targeted races is our sole focus. Our goal is to get done what needs to get done and get back to the private sector. (A decision on continuing beyond 2010 will be made after the election.)

We direct money toward the mission The vast majority (85%) of donations are committed to registering, mobilizing, and getting voters who value liberty to vote on Election Day. Through our support of targeted candidates, we will energize a drive to transform our current political apparatus that is working against our freedom and prosperity. With a new kind of majority in the House, we have a chance to see our current system of leadership transformed into leadership by citizens.

We support legislation which:

  1. Secures our borders and stems illegal immigration.
  2. Protects Americans, not terrorists and stops treating terrorists like domestic criminals.
  3. Reduces domestic dependence on OPEC oil and by increasing American energy exploration and drilling. OPEC loves American oil money, not our freedom and core beliefs. Why enrich them?
  4. Rejects Cap and Trade
  5. Stops runaway deficit spending and recaptures unspent stimulus funds.
  6. Makes lowering the National Debt a top legislative priority
  7. Suspends earmarks
  8. Reduces the size and scope of the Federal government, beginning with the 40 issue "czars".
  9. Enacts fundamental regulatory and tax reform
  10. Supports a 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution as follows: "Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and Representatives; and Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States."

Leadership Team

Bob McEwen, Executive Director
Elected to represent Ohio's Sixth District in the United States House of Representatives in 1980, Bob McEwen served six terms in the U.S. Congress. Prior to that, he was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives four times. While in Congress, McEwen was one of the few members to serve on the Select Committee on Intelligence, which oversees all of our nation's secrets, and the House Committee on Rules. He also served as a United States representative to the European Parliament from 1985 to 1993. McEwen was a participant in a variety of political and military negotiations.

Prior to his service in elected office, he operated a successful Ohio Real Estate and Development firm. An outstanding communicator, Bob McEwen is a leading advocate for conservative interests and free-market economics. As such, he maintains an active international speaking schedule. He is married to the former Liz Boebinger; they have four children.

Rick Tyler, Spokesman
Rick Tyler has served on former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich's team for the last ten years, eight of those years as his Spokesman. He is the Founding Director of Renewing American Leadership, an organization dedicated to defending and advancing American civilization and restoring America's Judeo-Christian heritage. Rick was a candidate field trainer for GOPAC for ten years. He has trained hundreds of candidates, their staffs, and volunteers to lead successful campaigns for elected office in 29 different states.
Rick is often invited to speak about his political insights by groups and state legislative caucuses. He was a guest lecturer at both the Institute for Politics at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard and the Robert J. Dole Institute for Politics at the University of Kansas. He can be seen regularly on Fox News.
Rick is a contributing author to the New York Times Bestseller Real Change: From the World that Fails to the World that Works by Newt Gingrich. Rick lives in Virginia with his wife and their daughter.
